New beginnings are exciting.
Whether you’re a long time Luminarium supporter, someone who
caught us performing (literally) around town in Roslindale Square or City Hall Plaza or Union Square this summer, a Human Movement Lab community member, or simply have been lurking on this mailing list for a bit, I’m glad you’re here—and excited to reintroduce myself and introduce you to Human Movement Project!
Through nearly 100 original dance performances and productions over the last 14 years, from the Boston Opera House to the basement of the Boston Public Library, I’ve played the biggest and smallest houses in town. I’m a two-time recipient of The Boston Foundation’s prestigious Live Arts Boston grant, I was a Boston Dancemakers Resident at the Boston Center for the Arts where I was granted the resources to create the acclaimed show Common Circus, and have received more Massachusetts Cultural Council LCC grants than I can currently count. My multi-decade career of creating innovative dance theatre and arts service projects has spanned stages, screens, landscapes, and community spaces.
I NOW have the immense privilege of committing my practice to Boston’s southwest neighborhoods with a permanent home in Hyde Park. This new beginning is the Human Movement Project, which includes welcoming an incredible board, continuing to collaborate with a diverse and inspiring group of movers and creators, and thinking hard about how we can serve our corner of the city through original performances and movement-based arts projects...
Here’s where you come in!
The Human Movement Project team is looking to fundraise $10,000 in just about one month—November 1 through December 3 (Giving Tuesday).
Help us plant long-lasting roots in Boston’s performing arts-neglected neighborhoods. Your donation will enable us to:

-
Tell engaging human stories through professional dance and theatre
-
Utilize dance and movement programming and community workshops to give our neighbors skills in creative problem solving, storytelling, activism, and building empathy (as well as a physical outlet)
-
Acknowledge access at every step of our process, from equitable pricing models to accessibility elements developed alongside the choreography instead of as an afterthought.
New beginnings are also scary—I’m restarting a nonprofit from mission statement up,and kicking it all off with a really ambitious fundraising goal in an industry that struggles with funding.
That being said, I have so much faith in the community that’s supported my work, and for what we can do together in and for Boston. To read more about donor perks, learn about Human Movement Project, and to make a tax-deductible donation, CLICK HERE.
Thank you so much for your investment,
